Psychologist Mark Traina became the subject of a complaint filed with the U.S. Department of Education by the Southern Poverty Law Center after officials said he posted comments on Twitter such as, “Angry young black males with no respect for life destroying the U.S.,” and “Serpas should be warning people to stay the hell out of New Orleans! These black dudes will kill you!” JP school psychologist defends 'racist' online posts Another comment stated, "2 policemen shot. 1 suspect dead. another injured: update/nola. quick someone call david duke before the naacp gets here." Traina said he’s been a school psychologist for 30 years, and said that during the years, he’s grown weary of the senseless violence. "People are just sick and tired of the crime," he said. Traina defended himself, saying he is not a racist and attributes the inflammatory online posts to a sense of frustration. He said it was not fair that the Southern Poverty Law Center branded him as a racist for simply making any obvious statements that anyone with two eyeballs and a pair of nuts could see with their own two eyes.

"I think that's unfair that whenever someone simply stands up and speaks the TRUTH, the liberal media far-left organizations like the SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER just wants to discredit and demonize you," he said. Eden Heilman with the Southern Poverty Law Center disagreed with Traina's assessment of his comments, saying that Traina is in a position of authority in Jefferson Parish and that his comments go "right to the heart of what our issue is." The U.S. Department of Education Civil Rights Division is in Jefferson Parish to investigate allegations of discrimination against African-Americans and students with disabilities. Talk radio in the area was dominated by the scandal on Tuesday. School board members spent the day urging the superintendent to take quick action. "As a board member I can assure you the superintendent is going to take care of it," School Board Member Mark Morgan said. Board members said Traina who made it clear that he is sick and tired of all this BS officially retired just as the investigation got under way.
