Veterans slam New York Times piece linking vets to hate groups!

BELIEVE IT OR NOT: https://www.mca-marines.org/veterans-slam-new...

Veterans advocates are denouncing an opinion piece in the New York Times that draws links between veterans and white supremacist groups in attempting to explain the actions of the suspected gunman in a recent and deadly shooting outside a Kansas Jewish center.
Frazier Glenn Cross, also known as Frazier Glenn Miller, is accused of killing three people outside a Jewish community center and Jewish retirement community on April 13, according to media reports. The Fayetteville Observer reported that Miller is a former Ku Klux Klan leader as well as a retired master sergeant who served in Army Special Forces. He was forced to retire in 1979 for distributing racist materials.
In the opinion piece published in the New York Times, Kathleen Belew wrote that while the majority of veterans are neither violent nor mentally ill, veterans have a history of joining right-wing extremist groups. She cites a 2009 Department of Homeland Security Report linking the return of combat veterans to Ku Klux Klan membership.

“During Mr. Miller’s long membership in the white power movement, its leaders have robbed armored cars, engaged in counterfeiting and the large-scale theft of military weapons, and carried out or planned killings,” wrote Belew, a postdoctoral fellow in history at Northwestern University.
“The bombing by Timothy J. McVeigh, an Army veteran, of the federal building in Oklahoma City in 1995, which killed 168 people, was only the most dramatic of these crimes. When we interpret shootings like the one on Sunday as acts of mad, lone-wolf gunmen, we fail to see white power as an organized — and deadly — social movement.”
Paul Rieckhoff, director of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, was outraged by Belew’s piece, which he called “sensational, slanderous and incredibly offensive to veterans.”
“Both the title — ‘Veterans and White Supremacy’ — and an accompanying graphic joining service members with KKK members are shameful,” Rieckhoff said in a statement to Military Times on Wednesday. “And the piece relies on weak research and sweeping generalizations about veterans. Especially coming right after so much irresponsible journalism that surrounded the [April 2] Fort Hood shooting, this is stunning and sad to see.
“How could the New York Times publish such a hurtful piece?” Rieckhoff said. “Veterans deserve answers from the Times — and an apology. After more than a decade of sacrifice, no veteran should have to open the newspaper and read an op-ed linking them to hate groups. In contrast to this op-ed, we should focus on telling the story of veterans doing amazing, inspiring work across the country and addressing the real challenges veterans face, including high rates of suicide and unemployment.”

Parents concerned about controversial Common Core academic standards - Chicago Sun-Times

COMMON CORE National Standards and
Tests: Empty Promises and
Increased Federal Overreach Into Education

Americans who cherish
limited government must be constantly vigilant of pushes to centralize various aspects
of our lives. Government intervention is a zero-sum game; every act of
centralization comes at the expense of liberty and the civil society
institutions upon which this country was founded.

Education is no
exception. Growing federal intervention in education over the past half century
has come at the expense of state and local school autonomy, and has done little
to improve academic outcomes. Every new fad and program has brought not
academic excellence but bureaucratic red tape for teachers and school leaders,
while wresting away decision-making authority from parents.

Despite significant
growth in federal intervention, American students are hardly better off now
than they were in the 1970s. Graduation rates for disadvantaged students,
reading performance, and international competitiveness have remained relatively
flat, despite a near tripling of real per-pupil federal expenditures and more
than 100 federal education programs. Achievement gaps between children from
low-income families and their more affluent peers, and between white and
minority children, remain stubbornly persistent. While many of these problems
stem from a lack of educational choice and a monopolistic public education
system, the growth in federal intervention, programs, and spending has only
exacerbated them.

Federal intervention in
education has been enormous under the Obama Administration, and has been
coupled with a gross disregard for the normal legislative process. And today,
Americans face the next massive effort to further centralize education: the
Common Core State Standards Initiative.

The battle over national
standards and tests is ultimately a battle over who controls the content taught
in every local public school in America. Something as important as the
education of America’s children should not be subjected to centralization or
the whims of Washington bureaucrats. What is taught in America’s classrooms
should be informed by parents, by principals, by teachers, and by the business
community, which can provide input about the skills students need to be
competitive when they leave high school.

Choice in education
through vouchers, education savings accounts, online learning, tuition tax
credit options, homeschooling—all of these options are changing how education
is delivered to students, matching options to student learning needs. It’s the
type of customization that has been absent from our education system. Choice
and customization are critical components necessary to improve education in
America. Imposing uniformity on the system through national standards and tests
and further centralizing decision-making will only perpetuate the status quo.

The good news is,
citizens and leaders in a number of states are fighting to regain control over
standards and curriculum, defending against a nationalization of education.
Ultimately, we should work to ensure that decisions are made by those closest
to the student: teachers, principals, and parents.

Join the Fight Against Common Core

Common Core Is An Effort to Centralize Education by dictating the
standards and assessments that will determine the content taught in every
public school across the country.

Common Core Has No
Evidence
that it will improve
academic outcomes or boost international competitiveness. But the Obama
Administration has pushed states to adopt national standards and assessments in
exchange for offers of billions of dollars in federal funding and waivers from
the onerous provisions of No Child Left Behind.

‘They’re making kids stupid now’: Check out this Common Core math problem

COMMON CORE
STANDARDS are EXACTLY the SAME in every STATE, which is illegal and commonly
called COMMONUNISM!

COMMONUNISM is
basically COMMUNISM – PLEASE don’t be FOOLED, by our totally CORRUPT FEDERAL
GOVERNMENT’S attempts to CONTROL every aspect of our LIVES from EDUCATION, to
RELIGION, even our HEALTHCARE!

We LIVE in a
POLITICALLY CORRECTIZED COUNTRY where it’s OK for TEACHER’S to TEACH our KIDS
about MASTURBATION, GAY and TRANSEXUAL LIFESTYLES, but not JESUS CHRIST.  PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS can no long celebrate
CHRISTMAS or read PASSAGES from our HOLY BIBLE, but can DISCUSS SEXUALLY
PERVERTED LIFESTYLES!

STOP COMMON CORE!

“There is no evidence to justify a single standard for all students,
given the diversity of interests, talents and needs among students. A one
size-fits-all model assumes that we already know the best standard for all
students; it assumes that one best way for all students exists.”

TERRORIST BILL AYERS and the COMMON CORE CURRICULUM

Terrorist Professor Bill Ayers and Obama’s Federal School Curriculum

EDUCATION without REPRESENTATION 101:
https://whatiscommoncore.wordpress.com/tag/communism/

Three years after the Department of Education announced a contest called Race-to-the-Top for $4.35 billion in stimulus funds, some parents, teachers, governors, and citizen and public policy groups are coming to an awful realization about the likely outcomes:
• A national curriculum called Common Core
• Regionalism, or the replacement of local governments by federally appointed bureaucrats
• A leveling of all schools to one, low national standard, and a redistribution of education funds among school districts
• An effective federal tracking of all students
• The loss of the option of avoiding the national curriculum and tests through private school and home school
Working behind the scenes, implementing these policies and writing the standards are associates from President Obama’s community organizing days. In de facto control of the education component is Linda Darling-Hammond, a radical left-wing educator and close colleague of William “Bill” Ayers, the former leader of the communist terrorist Weather Underground who became a professor of education and friend of Obama’s.
When these dangerous initiatives are implemented, there will be no escaping bad schools and a radical curriculum by moving to a good suburb, or by home schooling, or by enrolling your children in private schools.
How was it that 48 governors entered Race-to-the-Top without knowing outcomes?
It was one of the many “crises” exploited by the Obama administration. While the public was focused on a series of radical moves coming in rapid-fire succession, like the health care bill and proposed trials and imprisonment of 9/11 terrorists on domestic soil, governors, worried about keeping school doors open, signed on. Many politicians and pundits praised Obama on this singular issue, repeating the official rhetoric about raising standards.
It stands to reason, though, that education policies would be consistent with Obama’s agenda. After all, one of his most controversial associations, highlighted during the 2008 presidential campaign, was with an education professor, Bill Ayers. As a terrorist, he and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, had dedicated their Prairie Fire Manifesto to Sirhan Sirhan, the convicted assassin of Robert F. Kennedy. It was for this reason that Kennedy’s son, Christopher Kennedy, chairman of the University of Illinois board of trustees, voted against bestowing “professor emeritus” status on Ayers after he retired. “I intend to vote against conferring the honorific title of our university whose body of work includes a book dedicated in part to the man who murdered my father, Robert F. Kennedy,” he said.
THE OBAMA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION: WHERE DID BILL AYERS GO?
Back then, the former bomber and co-founder of the communist terrorist Weather Underground organization was Distinguished Professor of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The two had worked together closely from the year Ayers hosted a political launch party for Obama, in 1995, to 2002. At the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, “the brainchild of Bill Ayers,” they funneled more that $100 million to radical groups like ACORN and Gamaliel, which used the funds to promote radical education.[i] This initiative was also promoted by Arne Duncan, now Secretary of Education. Also as board members of the Woods Fund, Ayers and Obama channeled money to ACORN and the Midwest Academy.
When initial White House visitor logs were released in 2009, the administration quickly dismissed speculations about visits by “William Ayers.” That was a different William Ayers Americans were told. The Obama administration is appealing an August 17 order to release the other visitor logs in response to a lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch and others.
