New Orleans Police Officer Fatally Shoots 31-year-old Black Man during Shoplifting Investigation in Hollygrove!
A New Orleans police officer investigating a shoplifting complaint at a Hollygrove convenience store shot and killed a man Sunday morning, authorities said.
The 31-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was across the street from the store in the 8600 block of Belfast (between Monroe and Leonidas), and investigators found a .45-caliber gun next to him after the shooting, according to a NOPD news release. The shooting is being investigated by NOPD Public Integrity Bureau force-investigation team, FBI agents in the department, and the Independent Police Monitor.
Police have not said why the officer fired his gun, according to a report by Jacyln Kelly of our partners at WWL-TV. Angry Hollygrove residents say the slain man was given little time to comply with officers, that a dozen shots were fired at him and that video nearby recorded the shooting, WWL-TV reports.

NOPD’s Public Integrity Bureau (PIB) detectives are investigating an officer-involved fatal shooting that happened in Hollygrove this morning.
At 9:18am, a 9-1-1 call came in reporting a shoplifting at a convenience store in the 8600-block of Belfast Street. Two Second District officers arrived at the scene within 4 minutes. Preliminary information is that one of the officers fatally wounded a 31-year-old man who was across the street from the location, and that a .45 caliber gun was found lying next to the man.
Members of the PIB’s Force Investigation Team (FIT) were immediately called to the scene, as well as ATF agents and the Independent Police Monitor. The FIT will be in command of this investigation, and will work closely with the FBI agents who are housed within the Public Integrity Bureau.
The gun found next to the man was immediately taken to Baton Rouge where Louisiana State Police forensic experts are running it through DNA testing. The officer’s gun has also been confiscated for examination. Additionally, Crime Lab technicians recovered ballistics evidence from the scene. Several interviews have already been conducted and detectives continue to gather information about this incident.
Superintendent Ronal Serpas said, “It is always a sad day, when there is a loss of life. I spoke with the man’s father on the scene, and then went to the man’s mother’s home with Deputy Chief Arlinda Westbrook to speak with the mother privately. I made a promise to the parents, as I do to the family of the officer involved, that we will investigate this matter thoroughly and completely to get an accurate account of exactly what took place.”

New Orleans police release a sketch of a person wanted in the vicious attack against a bicyclist in Treme.
Police say the man in the composite sketch stalled a bike rider on Esplanade Avenue and North Robertson Street early Friday morning while another person struck the victim with a baseball bat.

The man in the sketch is said to be around 18 years-old, about six foot tall and 170 pounds.

The other person is described as 16 years-old or younger and about 5'5" to 5'7" and about 170 pounds.

Police say two bicyclists were attacked Friday morning. They believe the two incidents are related.

In both cases, investigators say the attackers beat the cyclists with a baseball bat.

The first victim suffered a fractured jaw while the second victim suffered a fractured skull.

Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro says when captured the two could face serious punishment.

Last week, I voted to repeal the reduction in cost of living adjustment (COLA) benefits paid to our military retirees.

Forward this good news to your friends, family and neighbors!

Restoring these benefits for our service men and women was a top priority for me. These cuts never should have happened in the first place, and military benefits are the last place we should look to balance the budget. Members of our military have already paid full price for this benefit, many with their own lives, including 127 warriors from Louisiana.

We made a promise to them, and it’s important for us to hold up our end of the bargain. The fact that some members of Congress are willing to delay paying the debt that is rightfully owed to our military by haggling over offsets is mind boggling.

This legislation keeps the promise that was made to more than 9,500 military retirees in Louisiana and 750,000 nationwide, and I am glad my colleagues joined me in moving quickly to repeal this reduction.

According to the Media, President Obama and the slick-haired Al Sharpton, we WHITE DEVILS are supposed to feel very sorry for the plight of the black teen. I believe Americans, by and large, do have sympathy for any person or group who’ve had life deal them a bad hand.
However, young black thugs, you’ve got to work with us a little bit because you’re kind of operating against the storyline the aforementioned are singing about y’all, and thus, making it difficult for us to soulfully commiserate.
Of what, pray tell, do I speak?
Well, homeslice, it goes something like this: For us to give a crap about your below-par existence we’d like to hear less and less about…
- Your ghastly grades in school
- Your ridiculous dropout rates
- Your colossal out of wedlock birthrates
- Your embracing of a musical culture that celebrates the shooting of cops and doing filthy, vile things to someone’s daughter
- Your love affair with drugs and alcohol
- Your #hatethem tweets aimed at white people
- Your flash mobbing and robbing places and people
- Your audacity to blame everybody and their dog for your odious behavior
- And your ginormous, misplaced racial chip on your shoulder
Yes, if you could/would chill on some of that stuff, well … That’d be great. That would make us crackers think, “Hey, maybe you’re serious about getting out of the ditch you’re in.”
Another difficult thing that makes it hard for us to believe you’re just poor, helpless victims of the machine is when a couple of teens from your crew gun down an innocent, twenty-two-year-old, white, Aussie student just to spice up the inherent boredom which accompanies the dog-days of summer. That act of uncut evil helps us not. Yep, that heinous stunt really makes all this “poor you” crap fly right out our windows.
And lastly, and I hate to be negative, but there was one more incident perpetrated by two black teens this week that also unraveled the sweet story Sharpton and the President would have us believe. It was the beating death of an eighty-eight-year-old, WWII vet in Spokane, Washington. That demonic deed, coupled with the murder of Chris Lane this week, makes it impossible for anyone with a brain to feel anything towards your personal dilemma except, “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.”
Yes, the brutal murder of someone’s grandpa and the senseless slaying of someone’s son by black thugs this past week do nothing but reinforce what the FBI National Crime Victimization Survey concluded, namely, that young black males are seven times more likely to commit murder than people of other races.
So, young black thugs, if you’d like us to empathize, trust and help you with a hand-up, howzabout cease and desist with the inhumane behavior, huh? Until then, we’ll be suspicious of young black teens, traveling in groups, taking an unusual interest in our person, especially if they’re dressed like gangbangers and are acting suspiciously.

Georgia Officials Approve License Plate Featuring Confederate Flag

NAAWP: Finally, some STATE OFFICIALS seem to be gittin wit da PROGRAM!

Georgia officials have once again approved a specialty license plate featuring the Confederate battle flag, infuriating civil rights advocates and renewing a debate among those who believe the symbol honors Confederate heritage and those who see it as racially charged.
The Georgia division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans requested the new plate design, and the Georgia Department of Revenue recently approved it. The group's old plate had a small Confederate battle flag. The new one features an additional, larger image in the background that covers the entire plate.
Spokesman Ray McBerry said the group meant no offense and views the plates as a way for people to honor their heritage.
"We believe that everyone has the right to preserve their heritage," he said. "Southerners have as much right to be proud of their heritage as anybody else."
Southern Christian Leadership Conference spokesman Maynard Eaton told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution the state shouldn't have sanctioned the move.
"To display this is reprehensible," Eaton said. "We don't have license plates saying 'Black Power.'"
Gov. Nathan Deal said Tuesday that he was unaware of the plate.
"I hadn't heard that, so I don't know anything about it," Deal said. "I'll have to talk to them about it. I had no information in advance about it."
States that joined the Confederacy have taken different positions on the battle flag.
North Carolina, Alabama and Mississippi have specialty license tags that include it, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Texas rejected an application to issue one on the grounds that it could offend some. The Texas Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans sued board members of the Texas motor vehicle agency, and the case remains in court.
In Georgia, the Department of Revenue's motor vehicle division approves proposed designs for specialty plates. Agency spokesman Nick Genesi said the old design included the Confederate battle emblem and that organizations with existing plates were allowed to submit new designs since the state switched to a new type of flat, digitally-printed plate.
Genesi said any submitted designs must not violate copyright laws.
The plates are available for an initial cost of $80, of which $10 is directed to the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
The group on its website says the funds will be used to promote Southern heritage through educational activities and preservation efforts around the state.
