EX-NEW ORLEANS MAYOR RAY NAGIN is looking more $ more
GUILTY!

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A financial official has told jurors in
former Mayor Ray Nagin's corruption trial that a movie theater built in the
eastern part of New Orleans paid the city back only a fraction of a $5 million
loan that was used to develop it.

Testifying Tuesday morning, New Orleans Deputy Director of
Finance Derrick Muse outlined more than $35,000 in penalties that Nagin waived
for the theater business's overdue taxes.

On Monday, prosecution witnesses testified that an owner of
the theater paid for a trip by Nagin's family to New York.

Nagin's indictment alleges he accepted $23,500 worth of
airfare and limousine services as a reward for the penalty waiver and overdue
loan payments. That allegation is part of a 21-count indictment against Nagin,
a Democrat, who served as mayor from 2002 to 2010.

Four shootings left two dead -- including an 18-year-old girl --
and three wounded during a violent weekend in unincorporated Jefferson Parish.
Detectives from the Jefferson Parish
Sheriff's Office also investigated reports of two stabbings or
cuttings and four armed robberies.

Authorities on Monday (Feb. 3) identified the parish's
most recent murder victim as Tyrone Jenkins, 39, of Harvey. Jenkins and a
second, unidentified man were shot in the 1000
block of Dimarco Drive in Marrero Sunday (Feb. 2), said Col.
John Fortunato, spokesman for the Sheriff's Office.

Dispatchers received several reports of gunfire in the
area about 7 p.m. As deputies drove to the scene, someone flagged down a patrol
unit at Westwood Drive
and the West Bank Expressway, about two blocks away from the
shooting. There, they found the unidentified victim, who was taken to LSU
Interim Public Hospital in New Orleans. He was in critical condition, Fortunato
said.

Deputies arrived at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of
Dimarco and found Jenkins body lying the courtyard. He was
pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrest two teenagers in murder of Highlandtown woman - Topix

Baltimore Police arrested two teenagers Sunday in the beating death of a 51-year-old Highlandtown woman who was found dead inside her home Friday.

Commissioner Anthony W. Batts held a news conference at police headquarters to announce the arrests of Alonzo Gorham-Ramos, 15, and Allen Pinkney, 14.
Kimberly Leto, of the 400 block of S. Ellwood Ave., was found dead inside her home overlooking Patterson Park early Friday with what police described as "upper body trauma." A neighbor said she was told by police the home had been broken into from the rear, and a chair could be observed pushed under the rear kitchen window, which was half-open.
Police said they believe that Gorham-Ramos and Pinkney killed Leto in a robbery gone wrong. Change, electronics and small personal items were taken from the house, police said.
Batts called the killing "unconscionable" and expressed regret that the crime will result in three lives being thrown away — not only Leto's, but also those of the two teenagers.
"It is unacceptable to see family after family ripped apart by such petty behavior," he said. "This is a heartbreaking tragedy on so many levels."
Investigators said they were able to quickly identify Gorham-Ramos and Pinkney as suspects because Gorham-Ramos had been charged with robbing Leto's house before.
Police confirmed Pinkney's mother works for the department as a dispatcher.
Leto was well-known to patrons as a bartender at O'Donnell's Pub in Canton. Another bartender working there Sunday before the Super Bowl said the staff at O'Donnell's was still trying to cope with news of their colleague's death.
"It's still tender," she said.
City Councilman James B. Kraft, who represents Highlandtown, said he had requested additional officers, including on foot patrol, in the neighborhood before Christmas and again this year.
He said the mayor's administration and police commanders told him the department is too understaffed for the requests to be fulfilled.
"I don't have a gun. I don't have a badge," he said. "I can't stand on every corner. All I can do is try to get [police officers] where they could be and try to get more of them."
