A Michigan State student Dominique Nolff from
Middleville that had critical injuries after a shooting near Michigan State
University has died according a friend of the victim’s family.

The other victim, Corbin Holwerda from Grand
Haven has been treated and release from Sparrow Hospital

Both shooting victims were roommates at the
Cedar Village Apartments, said a friend of one of the victim’s family. The man
in critical condition is a 2012 Thornapple-Kellogg High School graduate from
Middleville, said the family friend.

The East Lansing Police Department says that
according to investigators, the two shootings do not appear to be a random
incident. Investigators describe the outstanding suspect to be a BLACK MALE
with average height and build, between the ages of 20 and 25, wearing tan
pants, a black coat, and black shoes or boots.

Michigan State University Police sent out an
emergency text message Friday evening to students and staff stating, “Shooting
occurred at 845pm in 200 block of Cedar St in East Lansing. Suspect is a black
male with average height & build. Call ELPD at 517-319-6897 with
information.” MSU Police told FOX 17 News that this message was sent out as
soon as they confirmed details on the shooting with ELPD, at approximately
11pm.

The investigation is ongoing. Now anyone with
information is asked to call the ELPD Detective Bureau at (517) 319-6884.

Police: 2 students shot near Michigan State campus

 

 

Police respond to a shooting at Cedar Village Apartments on
Jan. 31, 2014 in East Lansing,

 

 

One of the students was listed in critical condition at a
hospital. The other was treated and released.

 

 

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Police are searching for a man who
shot two college students inside their apartment near Michigan State
University.

 

According to a news release Saturday morning from the East
Lansing Police Department, one of the students was listed in critical condition
at a hospital. The other was treated and released.

 

University police tweeted that students were alerted by text
message about the shooting. The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. at the
Cedar Village apartment complex, less than a mile from the Michigan State
campus.

 

East Lansing police say the suspect being sought was
believed to be in his 20s and that the shooting "does not appear to be a
random act."

 

Dispatchers with the city and campus police departments said
early Saturday there was no further information to release.
