Ex-NFL player Sharper surrenders over new rape charges

Embattled former American football star Darren
Sharper surrendered to police in Los Angeles on Thursday after an arrest
warrant was issued by authorities in New Orleans, Louisiana in connection with
two additional charges of rape.





The retired sportsman turned himself in to
cops hours after representatives at the Orleans Parish district attorney's
office announced that the 38 year old and his associate Erik Nunez had each
been hit with two counts of aggravated rape.





The charges relate to an incident which
allegedly took place with two women in a New Orleans apartment on Sept. 23.





If found guilty, the suspects could face life
in prison without parole.





The incidents are the latest legal woes for
the former Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints player.





Last week, Sharper pleaded not guilty to
claims he drugged and then raped two women in L.A. as part of an ongoing
investigation. If convicted in that case, he faces more than 30 years behind
bars.





Court documents filed in early February revealed
additional allegations from alleged victims in Las Vegas and Tempe, Arizona.





The accusations have cost Sharper his job as
an analyst for the NFL Network, as he has been suspended without pay.
