JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
Jackson Police have made an arrest in the shooting death of professional bass fisherman James "Jimmy" Johnson. Seventeen-year-old Shaun Brown of Jackson has been charged with capital murder.

Brown was arrested Tuesday and confessed to being responsible for Johnson's death. He made his first court appearance Wednesday morning. The teenager did not have an attorney present for the appearance so the judge decided not to proceed until the court could appoint an attorney.
He is charged with capital murder and accused of robbing the 56 year-old fisherman before opening fire. Johnson, of GanadoTexas, was shot once in the face.
The shooting happened Sunday night at Motel 6 on I-55 North. Brown was arrested Tuesday at a Delmar Street home about half a mile from the motel.
Investigators say they developed information that led them to Jackson teen.According to police, Johnson was outside his motel room when the teenager approached him.
"One of our patrol officers arrested an individual on an unrelated charge and this individual was able to give us some information that led us directly to the suspect," said J.P.D. Assistant Chief Lee Vance. " We also found out that the suspect had been talking openly about committing this crime."
Brown, who confessed to the 41st homicide this year, remains in jail without bond.
Johnson, an Open Series Fisherman, was one of more than 300 anglers in the Metro for a tournament that begins Thursday at the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
Bassmaster says it will remember Johnson at several events during the tournament this week.
