Speaking to reporters at the scene, NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison said the suspect initially fled and was caught at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Baronne Street. A gun was also recovered, he said.

MARDI GRAS: Woman shot Canal Street in New Orleans (02-11-2015)





A gunman shot a 44-year-old woman in broad daylight on a busy corner in downtown New Orleans, sending her to the hospital in critical condition, police said Wednesday. The woman was sitting on a bench in the 100 block of South Rampart near the corner of Canal Street shortly after 3 p.m. when she was shot in the chest.





Police at the scene said she appears not to have been the target, and that the suspect is thought to have gotten on the Morrison bus line after the shooting. Officers are presently searching the transit route. The area is a busy corner across the street from the Saenger Theatre, and is often quite populated with tourists walking the downtown area.





In 2013, a bullet from a gun killed 33,364 people, accounting for 1.2% of all deaths in the US. However, over 80% of the Americans that were Shot in 2013, 80% survived their injuries, which means that nearly 250,000 Americans were Shot in 2013 and only a little over 33,000 perished from their Injuries!





In 2013, 6 People in Japan died from gunshot wounds, a country of 58-million People! That’s a typical Saturday nights worth of killing in Chicago!
