Liberalism offers up a utopian vision of the world and then invites its practitioners to feel good about themselves for embracing it.
Liberalism says that....
1)...it's all about choice -- unless you want to choose which gun or lightbulb to use "BLOOMBURG", which school your child will attend, or you’d prefer more freedom and smaller government.
2)...it cares about the environment, when in practice, not only do liberals like Al Gore live some of the most resource-wasting and ostentatious lifestyles on the planet, but they hurt the environment by blocking environmentally friendly energy production here in favor of energy sources from nations that care little about pollution.
3)...you can have lots of free government services and somebody else will pay for them. The trillion dollar deficit we're running every year that will have to be paid back says otherwise.
4)...as long as you use birth control that someone else is forced to pay for, there are no consequences whatsoever to having lots and lots of sex. Meanwhile, more than 50 million children have been killed by their own mothers via abortion and 1 out of every 4 adults in New York City has herpes.
5).... "government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn." Do you know anyone with crabgrass on his lawn? DO YOU?
6)...it's all about compassion and taking care of the less fortunate, unless liberals have their own money on the line, in which case they give less to charity than those stingy, greedy, heartless conservatives.
7)...you shouldn't take your Christian faith seriously, that political correctness matters more than the Bible, and that mocking God has no consequences. Ever heard someone say,“Don't pick fights with people who buy ink by the barrel?”
8)...how much our country spends can be dictated by our wants, as opposed to what we can afford. Of course, if the world really works this way, Greece would be fine, nobody would have ever heard of the word "bankruptcy," and the banks wouldn't even bother to write down your name when you borrow money from them.
9)...liberals want unity and bipartisanship, which they apparently believe they can accomplish by spewing pure hatred and smearing, demonizing, threatening, and lying about anyone who disagrees with them.
10)...it’s going to deliver equality of outcomes for everyone, which is true, if by "delivering equality of outcomes" you mean "make everyone poorer."
11)...it cares about women -- unless they're conservative women, in which case liberals will insult them in the vilest of terms, attack their children, call them whores and laugh and hoot at the most grotesque sexist attacks against them.
12)....it'll help the poor -- and it does. Liberalism helps poor Americans live in ghettos with just enough food and money to survive so they can stay dependent on liberals. It's the same sort of help a farmer gives a chicken while he harvests its eggs and waits for the right time to wring its neck and toss it in the frying pan.
13)...liberals are the only people who care about black Americans and want to help, which doesn't seem to square with the fact that just about anywhere and everywhere liberals have been in charge for decades, like Detroit or New Orleans, most black Americans are in dire straits.
14)...small business owners were able to build their businesses because they were lucky. But of course, if that's true, why do we have such a high unemployment
15)...you can fix crime by taking away guns, but by definition, the people who will voluntarily give up guns are law abiding citizens who have no intention of committing a crime in the first place. Besides, if that can work, why doesn't Barack Obama set the example by asking his Secret Service agents to disarm?

They exercise both subtlety and thoroughness in their management of the news and the entertainment that they present to us.
For example, the way in which the news is covered: which items are emphasized and which are played down; the reporter's choice of words, tone of voice, and facial expressions; the wording of headlines; the choice of illustrations -- all of these things subliminally and yet profoundly affect the way in which we interpret what we see or hear.
On top of this, of course, the columnists and editors remove any remaining doubt from our minds as to just what we are to think about it all. Employing carefully developed psychological techniques, they guide our thought and opinion so that we can be in tune with the "in" crowd, the "beautiful people," the "smart money." They let us know exactly what our attitudes should be toward various types of people and behavior by placing those people or that behavior in the context of a TV drama or situation comedy and having the other TV characters react in the Politically Correct way.

In early May our Guest Speaker will be Dr. Tang and June our Guest Speaker will be Mr. Morris Dees from the SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW SINNER, in July Donald Duck and in August Daisy Duke will be our Guest Speaker!

We were very lucky to welcome Dr. Eric Tang as our guest speaker for our seminar on Friday, May 1st! As an expert in the field, Tang led us through a discussion on community organizing, from why it is necessary, to the different roles one can play as a community organizer. An issue Tang left us with to illustrate the importance of community organizing: Consider undocumented women who experience domestic violence that are afraid to get help for fear of exposing themselves as an illegal immigrant. How do you solve this? Community organizers play a large role in overcoming issues such as these. Tang also shared with us the funny story of his beginnings as a community organizer in New York City- “a scary 6ft Asian dude chasing kids around ” trying to get them involved in the programs he was working with. Tang suggests for anyone interested in doing community organizing to pick up a copy of Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, and “agitate, agitate, agitate!”
About our speaker:
Dr. Tang is an assistant professor of African and African diaspora studies and Asian American Studies here at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Tang obtained his Ph.D. in American Studies in 2006 from New York University, where he conducted research on Racism & Anti-racism, The Poetics of Displacement; Urban unrest, and Activism. Courses he has taught here at UT include: Asian American Activism, Racism and Anti-Racism, and Diaspora- Race, Nation, and Resistance.
In addition to being an assistant professor, Dr. Tang also serves as Associate Director of the UT Community Engagement Center. In his faculty fellow appointment with the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement (DDCE), Dr. Tang works with DDCE’s Incubator project, drawing on his ten years of experience in community organizing and research to help identify emerging projects that need help getting off the ground. He focuses on such projects by providing support through faculty expertise, space, data, and working with the university to provide greater capacity for community groups. He also spearheaded the Community Organizing Training Series, a collaboration between UT and several community-based organizations in Austin that are interested in training their members in the methods of community organizing.

Dr. Tang obtained his Ph.D. in American Studies in 2006 from New York University, where he conducted research on Racism & Anti-racism, The Poetics of Displacement; Urban unrest, and Activism. Courses he has taught here at UT include: Asian American Activism, Racism and Anti-Racism, and Diaspora- Race, Nation, and Resistance.
In addition to being an assistant professor, Dr. Tang also serves as Associate Director of the UT Community Engagement Center. In his faculty fellow appointment with the Division of Diversity and Community Engagement (DDCE), Dr. Tang works with DDCE’s Incubator project, drawing on his ten years of experience in community organizing and research to help identify emerging projects that need help getting off the ground. He focuses on such projects by providing support through faculty expertise, space, data, and working with the university to provide greater capacity for community groups. He also spearheaded the Community Organizing Training Series, a collaboration between UT and several community-based organizations in Austin that are interested in training their members in the methods of community organizing.

WATERTOWN - Police believe that Boston Marathon terror bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been pinned down in a boat in the backyard of a Watertown home - and he is still alive, a source tells the Globe.
Police have seen the suspect sit up and are using “flash bang” stun grenades to disorient and distract him. Officers are acting with caution because they remain concerned that the suspect might be wearing a suicide bomb vest, the source said.
The source said police had seen the suspect moving from a State Police helicopter.
The new developments happened just moments after authorities announced that the suspect had eluded a dragnet, abandoning a car and escaping on foot.

Lisa Bontempi said in a telephone interview,“There’s a lot of shooting.... I’m really scared. I’ve got to go.”
“We’re seeing every officer rushing to the corner. We’ve heard gunshots. We’ve got cops in bulletproof vests and an ambulance is there, with someone carrying out a stretcher,’’ said Louise Harrison Lepera, another Franklin Street resident.
“There’s a lot of cops outside,” said another resident, who declined to give her name.“Oh, my God, they’re just crouched down by the cars. But I heard a couple of pops, I’m not sure what they were exactly.”
Daniel Cantor, a resident of 84 Franklin Street, said he heard “a number of gunshots” in rapid succession just after 7:10 p.m.
He estimated it to be more than 30 gunshots but less than 50 to the west of his home, which is at 84 Franklin St., toward Washburn Street.“It was the kind that I did not want to be near,” Cantor said.
Cantor said he, his wife, and two kids were hiding under a bed when a reporter called just after 7:15 p.m.
Heavily armed police had been searching a 20-block area of Watertown since about 11 p.m. Thursday night.

He estimated it to be more than 30 gunshots but less than 50 to the west of his home, which is at 84 Franklin St., toward Washburn Street.“It was the kind that I did not want to be near,” Cantor said.
Cantor said he, his wife, and two kids were hiding under a bed when a reporter called just after 7:15 p.m.
Heavily armed police had been searching a 20-block area of Watertown since about 11 p.m. Thursday night.

WATERTOWN - Police believe that Boston Marathon terror bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been pinned down in a boat in the backyard of a Watertown home - and he is still alive, a source tells the Globe.
Police have seen the suspect sit up and are using “flash bang” stun grenades to disorient and distract him. Officers are acting with caution because they remain concerned that the suspect might be wearing a suicide bomb vest, the source said.
The source said police had seen the suspect moving from a State Police helicopter.
The new developments happened just moments after authorities announced that the suspect had eluded a dragnet, abandoning a car and escaping on foot.

“We’re seeing every officer rushing to the corner. We’ve heard gunshots. We’ve got cops in bulletproof vests and an ambulance is there, with someone carrying out a stretcher,’’ said Louise Harrison Lepera, another Franklin Street resident.
“There’s a lot of cops outside,” said another resident, who declined to give her name.“Oh, my God, they’re just crouched down by the cars. But I heard a couple of pops, I’m not sure what they were exactly.”
