LASALLE UNIVERSITY puts all STUDENTS and the entire COMMUNITY at RISK, by not REPORTING the RACIST SEXUAL ASSAULT!
La Salle University has offered counseling services to a student who reported being abducted and raped on Easter Sunday.
The school is also defending its decision not to notify students of the off-campus assault when it happened, saying administrators did not view it as an ongoing threat to their campus community.
"This case is still very active," said Captain John Darby, who heads up the Special Victims Unit (SVU) of the Philadelphia police department.

The attack happened about a mile away from the school. The 20-year-old woman told police she was walking on the 4800 block of 10th Street around 10 p.m. She said a black van pulled up beside her and four men jumped out, grabbed her and forced her inside. Police are not revealing where the men took her, but the woman told detectives she was sexually assaulted several times before the attackers dropped her off in an unknown location and fled.
Police say the men are between the ages of 20 and 25. One had "MM" tattooed on his face.
"We here at SVU take these reports very seriously. We have a very good working relationship with the University and we're in constant communication with them," Darby said.
As news of the incident spread around campus, students like sophomore Karla Fernandez were concerned. "It could've been anyone," she said.
Some students complained that the school didn't notify them about the attack. Federal law requires universities to issue safety alerts and advisories when there are serious or ongoing threats to the student or staff. This specific case, did not fit those guidelines, according to the school.
"Based on what we know, (which we cannot detail) it was decided a safety alert/advisory was not required, as we believed there was no serious or ongoing threat to our students or employees as a result of the reported incident," said Jon Caroulis, La Salle's Director of Media Relations.
Four days later, the school sent out a Safety Reminder to students, notifying them of the attack and offering the following tips:
• Refrain from walking alone, particularly at night, in off-campus areas.
• Travel in well-lit areas. Avoid shortcuts through driveways.
• Report suspicious persons to Security and Safety or Philadelphia Police.
• Be constantly aware of your surroundings at all times.
• Use University Shuttle and Escort services.
"This is a very pro-active approach," said Capt. Darby. "They took this opportunity to remind folks of the steps that could be taken to minimize risk."
The latest crime statistics from La Salle are complete through the year 2011.
They show that on the main campus, a total of 4 on-campus sex assaults were reported in 2011, none in 2010 and two in 2009.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A school security camera captured an angry Hickman Mills parent moments before she attacked an elementary school teacher
Hickman Mills administrators have reviewed the video of the incident that happened last week, after Simone Baker's 6-year-old son told her the teacher scratched him on the neck.
The Hickman Mills mom was supposed to show up for an appointment the following day, but that didn't happen.
In the video Baker can be seen slipping into Truman Elementary School after someone comes out.
The principal confronts her and takes her to the office, but that is when she leaves the principal's office and sprints toward the teacher's room, out of the view of cameras
Baker allegedly went into her son's classroom and punched the teacher. She then reportedly pulled the teacher out of the chair by her hair and smashed her head into a file cabinet before running off.
In the video, some time passes before school leaders can be seen sprinting toward the classroom, but Superintendent Dennis Carpenter told us earlier this week that's because the principal was following protocol by grabbing others to back her up.
“You can see the parent running down the hallway, and 30-34 seconds later you see the principal with a group running down the hallway, all the response I would expect from one of my school principals,” Carpenter explained.
Meanwhile the student has taken back his allegation of being "scratched" by the teacher and has been moved to a different class. Police have cited Baker with inflicting bodily injury.

IPS TEACHER hospitalized after being beaten by a BLACK STUDENT!
An Indianapolis teacher was sent to the hospital after being attacked by a student.
School officials said the John Marshall Community High School teacher, Garrett Heator, was assaulted about 1 p.m. Friday afternoon.
Heator said the attack came from one of his 9th grade students.
"He actually made another threat last month that he was going to hit me, and I think he got suspended for that," Heator said.
The student reported late to class Friday.
"So I told him to go to the auditorium and he got really upset and he punched the wall," Heator said.
Heator said the student left, but then came back a few minutes later.
"When he came back, he kicked the door open and was cussing and yelling and threatening me."
Heator said the student was taken to the dean's office, then bolted out of there and came after him.
"I was out in the hallway on the phone with another parent, and I never saw him coming," Heator said. "He just came up from behind my left side and punched me in the jaw."
He said he stumbled down the hall and into a nearby classroom.
"We fell over some other desks when some other students pulled him off of me," Heator said.
Moments later, IPS officers came and arrested the student.
"I think like he wanted to be in jail when they pulled him off me," Heator said. "He was pretty calm. He knew what was going on. When the officers came, he said, 'Put me in cuffs, take me to jail, I know what will happen.'"
Heator said he teaches because he's hoping to make a difference for students like the one who attacked him and broke his jaw today.
"I just feel like there's so many kids like him that it's hard to create a system that you can figure out why they're like that and meet their needs before they give up on themselves or do something stupid like this," he said.
Heator will have to have his broken jaw wired shut.

A 33-year-old mother was behind bars Thursday after a verbal confrontation turned physical and she allegedly attacked a teacher at a South Los Angeles middle school.
Kiki Lolita Fowler was arrested Wednesday morning by Los Angeles Unified School District police on felony battery charges at the campus of John Muir Middle School.
CBS2 and KCAL9 were first alerted to the incident by an anonymous tip to our newsroom:
“There was a brutal teacher attack at John Muir Middle School today. A parent with two of her children attacked a teacher just outside her classroom . . . . I do think the public awareness of this event is needed. This event has been brewing for some time and the need to have some kind safety procedures in place at our local schools is essential.”
According to LAUSD spokesperson Tom Waldman, Fowler and her two daughters attempted to make an appointment at the school’s special education office around 9 a.m., but were turned away for unknown reasons and instructed the leave the campus.
The trio then entered a classroom and physically confronted an unidentified female teacher in front of her students.
School officials say after the teacher fell to the ground, one of the girls hit her with a shoe.
The teacher suffered bruises and a possible neck injury, but did not seek treatment at a hospital.
LAUSD police responded to the fight and subsequently arrested Fowler and her two daughters.
The girl who hit the teacher with a shoe is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon. It is unclear what charges, if any, Fowler’s other daughter will face.
One of the girl is a student at John Muir Middle School, officials said.
Fellow teacher Karen Orpe says the victim is “a well respected teacher, has been for several years and a part of a dynamic and important department in our school.”
Fowler’s bail has been set at $20,000.

North Charleston police say the incident occurred just after 11:20 a.m. at the high school, located at 1087 Montague Avenue.
According to the report, the student attacked the teacher after being told he was getting an office referral for disobeying repeated requests to stop talking.
Police say the 15-year-old struck the victim in the face, causing the teacher to fall on the ground. The student then got on top of the teacher and continued striking the victim until other students pulled him off.
The teacher was taken to the hospital for X-rays and later released, according to police.
The student, who has not been named due to his age, told officers he attacked the teacher because he was frustrated and felt pressured. He was transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
